About the Program

The Sustainable Communities International Internship program is an initiative of the Centre for Sustainable Community Development (CSCD) and Sustainable Cities International (SCI) at Simon Fraser University (SFU).

Our program is reaching out to the world by sending 40 young Canadians to work with municipal governments in Tanzania, Senegal, South Africa, Bangladesh, Mexico and Bolivia for periods of up to six months.

Our volunteers work on various planning, communications, and engagement activities to support sustainable economies and food systems.

Our goal is to support recent university graduates to develop professional skills and experience, while making a difference in urban sustainability.

To qualify, applicants must be Canadian or Permanent Residents, under the age of 30, and a graduate of a degree or diploma program in a university, college, technical institute, or CEGEP.
